What you'll learn
How to make a LinkedIn profile that a recruiter, a teacher or a future co-founder can understand in ten seconds, even if you have no job yet.
Why bother now
LinkedIn is where companies in Bishkek, Almaty, Dubai and Berlin look people up. A thin profile reads as "not serious". A clear one with a real photo and three honest lines about what you are learning already puts you ahead of most applicants your age. You must be at least 16 to have an account.
The photo
Use a recent photo of your face, looking at the camera, on a plain background, in daylight. A phone is fine. Crop it so your face fills most of the circle. No sunglasses, no group photos, no logos. Add a simple banner if you like: a city skyline, a mountain, or a colour.
The headline
This is the line under your name, and it shows everywhere. Do not write only "Student". Say what you are learning and what you want: "Student at AUCA, learning data analysis and SQL" or "Self-taught Flutter developer, building apps for local businesses". Use words someone would search for.
About
Three to five short sentences, in the first person. What you study or do, one thing you have built or done, what you are looking for. Write it like you would introduce yourself to a kind stranger, not like a CV. If you are writing in English as a second language, that is fine; keep sentences short and ask an AI tool to check grammar, not to write it for you.
Experience, education, skills
Add your school or university. Add real experience: a part-time job, a volunteer role, a school project, a challenge you finished here. Then add five skills you can actually show, such as Canva, Excel, Python or public speaking. Fewer true skills beat a long list.
Three connections
Connect with three real people: a classmate, a teacher, someone you met at an event. Add a short note when you send the request. A profile with zero connections looks unfinished.
Your public URL
Under "Edit public profile and URL", set a clean address such as linkedin.com/in/aigerim-toktosunova. Make sure your public profile is visible, then open the link in a private browser window to check what strangers see.
Before you submit
Open your public URL while signed out. You should see your photo, headline, about, education and skills. Hide your phone number and personal email from the public view.
