What you'll learn

How to build a one-page personal website with an AI coding tool and put it on the internet, in an afternoon, without writing the code yourself. You will also learn the habit that matters most in vibe coding: small steps, checked one at a time.

Choose one tool

Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit, Cursor and Claude Code all work. If you have never coded, start with Lovable or Bolt: you type in a chat and see the site on the right. If you already know a little, Cursor or Claude Code give you a real project on your computer. Pick one and stay with it for this challenge.

Decide what the page says before you prompt

Write it down first, in your own words:

  • Your name and one line about you
  • Three things you do or are learning
  • One project, even a small one, with a picture
  • How to reach you: email, LinkedIn or GitHub, never your phone number

A site with your real words beats a pretty site full of placeholder text.

Build it in steps

  1. "Build a one-page personal website for a student in Bishkek. Sections: hero with my name and one line, about, three skills, one project, contact links. Clean, light background, works on phones." Look at the result.
  2. Paste your real text and ask it to replace the placeholders.
  3. Fix one thing at a time: "Make the heading smaller on phones." "Use a dark green accent instead of purple." "Add my photo here."
  4. Open it on your phone. Most visitors will.

When something breaks, paste the exact error and say what you expected. If it goes in circles, go back to the last good version and ask for a smaller change.

Keep a build log

In a doc, write each prompt that mattered and one line on what changed. Five to ten entries is plenty. It shows how you think, and it is part of what you hand in.

Put it online

Use the tool's Publish button, or connect the code to GitHub and deploy with Vercel, Netlify or GitHub Pages. All are free for a site this size. Make sure the code is in a public GitHub repo.

Before you submit

Open your live URL on a phone that has never seen it. Every section shows your real content, every link works, nothing says "Lorem ipsum". Submit the live URL, the repo URL and the build log link.

about 4h of work

The task

You do not need to know how to code to have your own website now. You need to know what you want to say, and how to steer an AI coding tool one small step at a time. In this challenge you build a one-page personal site with Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit, Cursor, Claude Code or a similar tool: who you are, what you do or are learning, one project, and how to reach you. You deploy it to a public URL, keep the code in a public GitHub repo, and write a short build log of the prompts that mattered.

Deliverables

  1. 01The live URL of your site
  2. 02The public GitHub repo with the site's code
  3. 03Your build log: five to ten prompts that mattered and what changed after each, in a shared doc

Acceptance criteria

Judged against exactly these

  • The site opens at a public URL and reads well on a phone
  • It has your name, an about section, at least three skills or interests, one project and contact links
  • All text is your real content; there is no placeholder or "Lorem ipsum" text
  • Every link on the page works
  • The code is in a public GitHub repo with commits made during the challenge window
  • The build log shows at least five prompts and what you changed after each

Rules

  • Complete the lesson first. The submit form unlocks once you mark it done.
  • Submit a link to your work: a public GitHub repo or PR for code challenges; YouTube, Google Drive or Docs, Figma, Notion or a live site for everything else.
  • AI tools are allowed and encouraged. Plagiarised or copied work is disqualified.
  • The work must be made during the challenge window. For code, the commit history must show it.
  • An AI reviewer pre-scores every entry against the acceptance criteria. A human makes the final decision.
  • On payout, Alt AI Labs receives a licence to use the winning work (MIT for code). Non-winning entries stay yours.
  • Do not include secrets, API keys or anyone's personal data.
  • Do not put your phone number or home address on the site.

Results

  1. 01

    AI pre-score

AI reviews your write-up against the acceptance criteria. It cannot open your link, so explain your work clearly.

  2. 02

    Human decision

A human reviews the work itself and makes the final call. The AI score is advisory.

  3. 03

    Win

There is no cash prize. Winning work is shown to the organization behind the challenge.
